Preparing the Halwa

  • In a heavy-bottomed pan or kadai, heat the desi ghee over medium-low heat. Add a pinch of salt. Once the ghee is hot, add the cardamom powder and stir gently for a few seconds to release its aroma. Add the whole wheat flour and stir continuously with a sturdy spoon or spatula to prevent burning.

Roasting the Flour

  • Reduce heat to low. Continue stirring the flour in the ghee, ensuring it doesn't stick to the bottom or sides of the pan. This roasting process is crucial for developing the rich flavor and color of the halwa. It takes approximately 20-25 minutes until the flour turns a deep golden-brown color and a nutty aroma fills your kitchen.

Adding Liquid and Sugar
