  • Cook, stirring continuously with a whisk, until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
  • If using saffron, gently stir in the saffron milk during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a bowl to cool completely.
