Ingredients
For the Banana Chips
- 5 Bananas but firm; plantains also work well, ripe
- 2 cup Vegetable Oil or enough for deep frying
For the Seasoning
- 1.5 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 1 tsp Pepper Powder black
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
Instructions
Preparation
- Peel the bananas and, using a mandoline slicer or sharp knife, thinly slice them. The thinner the slices, the crispier the chips will be.
Deep Frying
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep, heavy-bottomed pan or wok over medium-high heat. Carefully add the banana slices to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.
Cooking the Chips
- Fry the banana slices until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. The oil will stop sputtering when they are done. Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Seasoning
- Immediately sprinkle the salt, black pepper powder, and chaat masala over the hot chips. Toss gently to ensure even coating.
Serving
- Let the chips cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your crispy Banana Pepper Chips as a delicious teatime snack!
