Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • Combine semolina, whole wheat flour, salt, and oil in a bowl. Gradually add water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead well for 5-7 minutes, then let it rest for 10 minutes.

Prepare the Filling

  • In a separate bowl, combine mashed banana, green peas, green chili, coriander, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, dry mango powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly.

Assemble the Pinwheels

  • Knead the rested dough briefly. Divide it into two equal portions. Roll out one portion into a thin circle (about 1/8 inch thick). Trim the edges to create a neat rectangle or square.
  • Spread half of the filling evenly over the rolled dough.
  • Tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
  • Gently press the open side of each slice to create a pinwheel shape.

Bake the Pinwheels

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll the pinwheels in sesame seeds.
  • Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 17-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Serve

  • Serve the baked samosa pinwheels warm as a delicious appetizer or snack. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for Perfect Samosa Pinwheels

  • For a crispier crust, brush the pinwheels with a little oil before baking.
  • If your dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour. If it's too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time.
  • Adjust the amount of chili powder according to your spice preference.
  • These pinwheels are best served fresh from the oven, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
