About Authentic Burmese Lahpet Tea Recipe

Discover the rich, smoky depths of Lahpet, a traditional Burmese fermented tea. This recipe shares a taste of Myanmar's vibrant breakfast culture, offering a unique and robust tea experience unlike any other.
Unlike sugary teas, Lahpet boasts a naturally deep flavor, enhanced by a simple brewing process. While traditionally brewed over an open fire, this adapted recipe is perfect for modern kitchens.
My personal touch, a hint of creamy condensed milk, complements the earthy notes of the Lahpet without overpowering its unique character. Enjoy this authentic Lahpet Tea, perfect for a cozy morning or an adventurous tea-time.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Lahpet Tea

  • Leaf Quality Matters: Use high-quality Lahpet leaves for the best flavor. Look for leaves that are dark brown and have a fragrant aroma.
  • Adjust Steep Time: Experiment with steeping times to find your preferred strength. Longer steeping times will result in a stronger, more intense flavor.
  • Sweetness Level: Adjust the amount of condensed milk according to your taste preference. Some prefer it unsweetened to fully experience the earthiness of the tea.
  • Creative Serving: While biscuits are traditional, explore serving Lahpet tea with other treats like small cakes, pastries or even a side of fresh fruit.
