Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Perfect Spicy Strawberry Granita

  • For a less intense spice, reduce the cayenne pepper to 1/8 teaspoon or omit it entirely.
  • If your strawberries are particularly tart, increase the sugar to taste. You can also add a tablespoon of honey or agave nectar for added sweetness and complexity.
  • For a smoother granita, strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve before freezing. This removes seeds and ensures a silkier texture.
  • To make individual portions, use small ramekins or ice cube trays instead of a large dish. This makes it easy to serve portions.
