Ingredients
For the Marinara Sauce
- 3 tbsp Olive Oil extra virgin
- 5 clove Garlic minced
- 1 Onion large, sliced
- 1/2 Bell Peppers green, sliced
- 1/2 Bell Peppers also known as pimento, red, sliced
- 350 gm Canned Tomatoes chopped, with their juices
- 2 tsp Basil dried
- 1/2 tsp Pepper black, freshly ground
- 1/2 tsp Pepper Flakes red
- Salt Salt to taste
For the Pasta
- 475 gm Fusilli Pasta uncooked
- 175 gm Parmesan Cheese for serving, freshly grated
Instructions
Prepare the Marinara Sauce
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until lightly browned.
- Add sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in canned tomatoes with their juices. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with dried basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Adjust seasonings as needed.
Cook the Pasta
- While the sauce simmers, cook fusilli pasta according to package directions until al dente.
Combine and Serve
- Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Toss to combine.
- Serve immediately, topping each serving with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
