Instructions

Sauté Aromatics

  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add the chopped onions and sauté until softened. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies; cook for 3 minutes over low heat.

Brown the Mutton

  • Add the minced mutton, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes over low heat, allowing the mutton to brown slightly.

Add Spices and Vegetables

  • Stir in the peas, red chili powder, coriander powder, and turmeric powder. Add 1 cup of water. Secure the lid and cook on high heat until 4 whistles are released. Reduce the heat to low and allow the pressure to release naturally.

Add Potatoes and Finish

  • Open the cooker and add the diced potatoes. Cook for another 3 whistles or until potatoes are tender. Stir in the chopped coriander leaves.

Serve

  • Your Mutton Matar Aloo Qeema is ready! Serve hot with naan, roti, chapati, or rice.

Recipe Notes

Expert Tips for the Best Mutton Matar Aloo Qeema

  • For extra flavor, marinate the minced mutton in yogurt and spices for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of green chilies to control the spice level. If using fresh chilies, finely mince them for a more even distribution of heat.
  • Don't overcook the peas and potatoes; they should be tender but not mushy.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice for a vibrant finish.
