About IL Forno Lasagna
Lasagna is one of Italy’s most iconic comfort foods, loved around the world for its rich layers and hearty flavors. Originating from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy especially the city of Bologna traditional lasagna was made with wide pasta sheets layered with slow-cooked ragù, creamy béchamel sauce, and aged Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. The word “lasagna” comes from the ancient Greek term “laganon,” referring to flat sheets of dough cut into strips. Over time, this simple concept evolved into the layered baked dish we know today. While classic Lasagna alla Bolognese follows a strict traditional recipe, modern versions now include variations with vegetables, chicken, seafood, and even vegetarian or gluten free options. What makes lasagna special is not just its taste, but its role in Italian food culture. It’s often prepared for family gatherings, Sunday lunches, and festive occasions symbolizing warmth, sharing, and homemade goodness. Each layer tells a story: slow cooking, quality ingredients, and patience.Today, lasagna has become a global favorite, adapting to local flavors while still staying true to its Italian roots. Whether enjoyed in a traditional trattoria or a modern restaurant, lasagna remains a timeless dish that brings people together, one delicious layer at a time.
