Ingredients
 

Lentils & Spices

  • 100 gm Lentils use a combination of red lentils, mixed, or any lentils you have on hand. approximately 100g total., yellow lentils
  • 1/2 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds

Vegetables

  • 1 Onion finely chopped, small
  • 1 Tomato finely chopped, small
  • 2 tbsp Coriander finely chopped
  • 1 Chili adjust to taste, finely chopped, green
  • 1/2 Potato peeled and finely chopped, small

Prepare the Batter

  • Soak the mixed lentils in water for 2-3 hours. Drain the lentils and blend them in a food processor along with the chopped onion, tomato, cumin seeds, salt, and turmeric powder (if using) until a smooth batter forms.

Add Vegetables and Adjust Consistency

  • Add the finely chopped potato, coriander, and green chilies to the batter. Mix well and add water if needed to achieve a dosa-like consistency.

Cook the Chilla

  • Heat a non-stick tawa or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tsp of oil and spread evenly.

Pour and Cook

  • Pour 2-3 tablespoons of the batter onto the hot tawa, spreading it thinly to form a small pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve

  • Serve the Dal Chilla hot with your favorite chutney or yogurt.
