Ingredients
Goat Spleen
- 500 gm Goat Spleen also known as manneral or suvarroti (tamil)
Spices
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Peppercorns black
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder
Aromatics & Others
- 1 sprig Curry Leaves
- 30 Onions pearl onions, finely chopped, small
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp Oil vegetable or coconut oil
- 1 cup Water or as needed
Instructions
Preparation
- Clean the goat spleen thoroughly and cut it into small, bite-sized pieces.
- Finely chop the small onions.
Stir-frying the Spices and Aromatics
- Heat oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds; allow them to crackle.
- Add curry leaves and sauté briefly until fragrant.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Cooking the Goat Spleen
- Add the goat spleen pieces to the pan. Sprinkle with cumin powder, chili powder, pepper, and salt.
- Stir well to coat the spleen evenly with the spices.
- Add 1 cup of water, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the spleen is tender and the water has reduced slightly, stirring every 5 minutes.
Final Touches
- Once cooked, remove the lid and allow any excess water to evaporate.
- Transfer to a serving bowl, cover, and let rest for 5 minutes to retain the aroma.
- Serve hot with steamed rice and your favorite curry or side dish.
