Ingredients
For the Paneer Fritters
- 1 cup Cottage Cheese crumbled, indian cottage cheese
- 1.5 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 1 tbsp Garlic grated
- 1 tsp Chili Powder adjust to your spice preference
- 2 tsp Tomato Ketchup
- 5 tbsp All-Purpose Flour also known as maida
- 3/4 cup Papad crushed
For Frying
- 2 cup Vegetable Oil or enough for deep frying
- 1/2 cup Water for the flour batter
Instructions
Prepare the Paneer Mixture
- Crumble the paneer into a bowl. Add salt, grated garlic, chili powder, and tomato ketchup. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
Shape the Fritters
- Divide the paneer mixture into 9 equal portions. Shape each portion into a 2-inch long cylindrical roll. Set aside.
Make the Batter
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of water until you have a smooth, pourable batter.
Coat and Fry
- Dip each paneer roll into the flour batter, ensuring it's fully coated. Then, roll the battered fritter in the crushed papad until evenly covered.
- Heat the oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat. Carefully place the coated paneer rolls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the fritters, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy (about 3-4 minutes per side).
Drain and Serve
- Remove the fried fritters from the oil and place them on a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the crispy paneer fritters immediately with tomato ketchup or your favorite dipping sauce.
Recipe Notes
Expert Tips for Perfect Paneer Fritters
- Ensure the paneer is well-crumbled to prevent the fritters from becoming dense.
- Don't overcrowd the pan while frying; this will lower the oil temperature and result in soggy fritters.
- Adjust the chili powder according to your spice preference. For extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- For an extra crispy exterior, let the fritters cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
