Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour also known as maida
- 1 tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder also known as elaichi
Wet Ingredients
Garnish
- 1/4 cup Almonds finely chopped
Instructions
Prepare the Dry Ingredients
- Sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and cardamom powder. Set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or stand mixer for best results.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter and sugar mixture, mixing until the dough resembles breadcrumbs.
Form the Dough
- Add milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, mixing until a smooth, soft dough forms. Do not overmix. Let the dough rest, covered, for 10-15 minutes.
Shape and Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make a thumb impression or decorative mark on each cookie. Garnish with chopped almonds or other nuts.
Bake the Cookies
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The cookies will crisp up as they cool.
Cool and Store
- Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack before storing them in an airtight container. They will keep for several days at room temperature.
