Ingredients
For the Pattice
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour also known as atta. use good quality whole wheat flour for the best texture., atta, whole
- 2 medium Potato boiled and mashed
- 1.5 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper freshly ground, black, for best flavor
- 2 tbsp Oil for shallow frying. vegetable or canola oil recommended.
- 1/4 cup Water as needed to bind the dough
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes
- Boil 2 medium potatoes until tender. Peel and mash them thoroughly.
Combine Ingredients
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, whole wheat flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Form the Pattice
- Gradually add water, a tablespoon at a time, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Do not make it too sticky. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Flatten each ball into a small patty.
Shallow Fry
- Heat the oil in a non-stick pan or tawa over medium heat. Gently place the patties in the hot oil and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve
- Remove the patties from the pan and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot.
