Ingredients
Vegetables
- 1 slice Bell Peppers red, slice
- 1 slice Bell Peppers slice, yellow
- 1/2 medium Onion cubed, medium
- 1 cup cup Mushroom sliced
- 1/2 medium Cucumber for garnish, medium, sliced
Sautéing & Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp Butter unsalted
- 1 Tbsp Olive oil extra, virgin
- 1/4 tsp Chili flakes
Garnish (Optional)
- Tomato sauce to taste
- Lettuce as needed
Instructions
- In a nonstick skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, and chili flakes to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Season the vegetables with salt and remove them from the skillet. Set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and salt until light and frothy. This incorporates air for a lighter omelette.
- Add the remaining butter to the skillet over medium heat. Once melted, pour in the egg mixture.
- Let the eggs cook undisturbed for a few seconds until the edges begin to set.
- Using a spatula, gently push the cooked egg towards the center of the skillet, tilting the pan to allow the uncooked egg to flow underneath. Repeat this process until most of the egg is set but the top is still slightly wet.
- Spoon the sautéed vegetables over one half of the omelette.
- Carefully fold the other half of the omelette over the vegetables to create a semi-circle.
- Cook for another minute or two, until the filling is heated through and the omelette is cooked to your liking.
- Slide the omelette onto a serving plate.
- Garnish with cucumber slices, tomato sauce, and lettuce, if desired.
Recipe Notes
Good To Know
- Adding milk helps create a fluffier omelette.
- For a silkier texture, cook over medium-low heat, gently stirring and shaking the pan, then fold when just set.
- Sautéing vegetables beforehand enhances their sweetness and prevents a watery omelette.
- Adding butter before and after pouring the eggs creates a richer, creamier omelette.
- Garnish with fresh herbs like chives, tarragon, or parsley for an elegant presentation and flavor boost.
Expert Tips
- Don't overcook the omelette. It should be slightly moist in the center.
- Experiment with different fillings, such as cheese, mushrooms, or onions, to personalize your omelette.
- Use a non-stick pan for easy cooking and flipping.
Storage Instructions
- Store leftover omelette in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat gently in a microwave or skillet over low heat.
