Salads are soul food and the best way to lose weight. Salads don't mean adding few boring green leaves and beans in a bowl and then you munching it with no interest. Salad dressings, when added to the salads, can make them a complete meal. A lot of salad dressings are available in the market but most of them are loaded with preservatives and sugars. A bigger problem comes in an Indian household where still its not a concept to have salad as a meal and as nowadays a lot of Indians are also going on weight loss mission and making all American dressings at times become a challenge as we, Indians as a culture are not used to salads, we are more used to the chutneys and pickles. So what we do? Well search in your own kitchen and make Indian salad dressing for the Indian Salads with ingredients which we eat locally. No lettuce, China cabbage or broccoli or zucchini ( I don't say they are not good) but In India, it is still hard to make the whole family eat all of these veggies.   • Mango thinly sliced -1 raw
  • 1 / Chickpeas soaked overnight and boiled - cup
  • 1 / Onion thinly sliced - cup
  • 1 / Tomato cubed - cup
  • a leaves Mint
  • Dressing for
  • 2 tbsp Powdered Jaggery
  • 1 tsp Black Salt powdered


  • How to make Jaggery dressing: After reading the ingredients, you must be wondering if I have forgotten to put olive oil to make dressing but No , this is a unique dressing and doesn't need any of these. Just add jaggery and black salt.
  • Soak Chickpeas overnight and boil it.
  • Thinly slice onion and raw mango.
  • Cube the tomatoes and add all the ingredients together.
  • Add the jaggery dressing and mix, As soon as the jaggery dressing goes into the veggies, onion releases its water and the dressing is formed. So why add olive unnecessary?
