About this Recipe

This recipe is just like our pickles. Burmese don't like chapati like us. They like steam rice fried rice. This is a good combination with rice. I had this recipe in Burma.

Ingredients & Quantity
  • 100 gms dry shrimp
  • 250 gms chopped onion
  • 50 gms chopped garlic
  • 10 gms Red chilli flakes
  • 250 gms ground nut oil
  • Salt to taste

How to cook?
  1. first of all wash the dry shrimp with warm water. Soaked for ten minutes.
  2. Balachaung (burmese Recipe)
  3. Now heat oil add chopped garlic to fry. Then add chopped onion to fry
  4. Add soaked shrimp red chilli and salt. Mix well and stir fry continuously. It should be dehydrated and kept in a glass jar.
  5. Now ready to serve. It can be serve with chow chow or rice.
