Poha payasam is a quick and easy to make dessert / pudding. Its made using poha which is said to be the favorite of Lord Krishna. So South Indians, usually prepare this during the gokulaashtami festival.But we Indianans make it frequently because it is easy to make dessert and all the ingredients used in it are available at home.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoon desi ghee
  • 2 tablespoon charoli chironji
  • 20 raisins
  • 10 cashew halves
  • Few Coconut slices
  • 1 cup poha
  • 4 cup full fat Milk
  • 1 teaspoon dessicated coconut
  • 4 tablespoon Sugar as per taste
  • 1 teaspoon jaggery or brown sugar
  • Few strands of saffron
  • Rose petals to garnish

Instructions
 

  • Take a pan and heat 1tbsp desi ghee . cook raisins,cashewshalves, charoliand coconut slices . Take them out in a bowl and let it cool for a while. In the same pan heat remaining ghee and roast poha and sauté it.

  • Now take heavy bottomed pan and pour milk and poha. Cook for 8 minutes on low heat .
  • Add sugar and jaggery and mix it well.
  • Now add dessicated coconut, saffron ,roasted nuts and raisins and cook at low flame for 2 minutes .
  • Decorate with rose petals.Your #poha payassam is ready.

  1. It tastes metter when served chilled.foot-in-mouth
