Lotus root has a wide range of health benefits. It is an aquatic plant. The lotus root is a long, woody object that attaches to the bottom of the water level and can stretch up 3 to 4 ft. It can be washed, sliced and then prepared.
It is also used in the natural or powered forming traditional herbal medicine. It has the texture of a potato and taste slightly like coconut before adding any extra flavour.

Ingredients
- 250 gm Lotus roots
- 1/2 cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup gram flour
- 1 teaspoon green chilli paste
- 1/2 red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- Oil for deep fry
- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida powder
- Salt

Instructions
- Cut the roots and thoroughly washed. Peel off the skin if needed. Sometimes there may be sticky mudy into the hole.
- Boil with adding little salt. Strain the excess water and keep aside.
- Make a batter with gram flour, rice flour, green chilli paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger paste, cinnamon powder, salt and asafoetida. It should be a good consistent.
- Heat oil in a pan. Dip the boiled roots into the batter then deep fry.
- It can be served as a snack.
