Poppy Potato

Bangalees are incomplete without poppy seeds. Poppy seeds are a better source of minerals, calcium, iron and zinc. It gives crunchy and cryspy effect. Good for pain relief remove insomnia, wrinkles and keep skin healthy. Aloo posto (poppy potato) is a common recipe of every Bangalees household.

Ingredients
  

  • 200 gm potato
  • 25 gm poppy seeds paste
  • 2 tbsp coconut paste
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp green chilli paste
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion seeds
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • Salt
  • Coriander and mint leaves

Instructions
 

  • Heat a pan put mustard oil, after smoking add onion seeds and poppy seeds.
  • Add potato cubes, turmeric powder, ginger paste and salt. Mix all together and sprinkle with little water. Close the lid until cooked.
  • When potato become soft now add poppy seeds paste, coconut paste and green chilli paste. Mix all together again close the lid for a minute.
  • Open the lid sprinkle with fresh coriander leaves.

Notes

This recipe goes with steam rice.
