Finger Millet Vermicelli Badam Kheer

Looking out for a healthy dessert after meals or during breakfast? Presenting, a complete healthy and nutritious dessert that is made out of finger millet and almonds(badam). Enjoy this finger millet badam kheer anytime without guilt!

  • ½ cup finger millet vermicelli
  • ½ litre milk
  • ½ cup organic sugar
  • A generous pinch of cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoon cashew nuts
  • 2 tablespoon raisins
  • 10 Almonds
  • 3 teaspoon MTR Badam milk powder optional
  • Ghee as required
  • Saffron strands for decoration


  • Soak almonds in little hot water for 30 minutes.
  • Heat 1 teaspoon of ghee and roast finger millet vermicelli.
  • Heat another teaspoon of ghee, fry cashew nuts and raisins. Set aside.
  • Peel the almonds and grind them to a coarse paste.
  • Boil the milk, add roasted finger millet vermicelli.
  • Allow the vermicelli to cook in the boiled milk for 4 - 5 minutes.
  • Add the almond paste and cook for another 2 minutes in low flame.
  • Add sugar and stir the mixture until sugar dissolves.
  • Turn off the flame; add cardamom powder, MTR badam milk powder and fried nuts & raisins.
  • Mix in few saffron strands and transfer to a serving bowl.


If you are not using MTR badam milk powder, just increase sugar by 2 more teaspoons if you prefer.
