Here comes a perfect summer cooler to quench your thirst and satiate your soul! Often, I have noticed that most of the cold (sweet) drinks available in the market do not quench your thirst. Then, ‘Shikanji’ comes to your rescue. Shikanji is also known as shikanjbi, shikanjbeen or shikanjvi . It is the traditional ‘lemonade’ popular in Northern parts of India. It is one of the best summer, spiced and super cooling drinks of India.

Instructions

  • Combine salt, sugar, lemon juice from one lemon, directly in a drinking/serving glass (or a small vessel) Add cumin powder to it. You can add either plain cumin powder as I did, or add roasted cumin powder.
  • Add black salt to the above mix, this is optional. I did not add black salt as I did not have it readily available at home. Mix well. Add some mint leaves to this. Pour in cold Club soda until the brim of the glass.
  • Decorate with mint leaves and a slice of lemon. Serve chilled by adding ice cubes!

Notes

Serve this thirst quenching mocktail and beat the summer!
