Chana dal
bengali gram - 1 cup
Kalaunji
onion seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Ginger paste - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Tomatoes
chopped - 2
Garam masala powder - 1/4 th tsp
made of cloves+ cinnamon+ cardamom in equal ratio
Dry red chillies - 2
Salt
Refined oil
Instructions
Soak the Chana dal (bengal gram) overnight.
Drain them and blend them in a mixer grinder with very little water.
Heat a nonstick kadhai with little oil.
Add kalaunji (onion seeds) and once they splutter, add the Chana dal paste and salt.
Cook till the mixture is Dry and becomes doughy.
Pour the mixture on a flat surface and flatten it.
Cut it into diamond shapes and deep fry the pieces and keep aside.
Heat another kadhai with very little oil.
Add dry red chillies and jeera.
Add the tomatoes and stir.
Cook till they are mushy and then add the ginger paste.
Stir and then add the powdered masalas, salt.
Cook till the masala leaves oil.
Add water and bring upto boil.
Then add the fried dhokas. Serve.
