Buttermilk is a easy recipe with just two ingredients. It's simple, quick and made within 5 minutes without fail. This recipe of buttermilk is used for baking cakes, muffins, cookies, etc. It gives moist and fluffy texture to the recipe.
Add 1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice, stir once and let it sit for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes the milk will curdle and buttermilk is ready to use.

Buttermilk is generally categorised in two different forms Traditional and Cultured. Traditional one is made with the leftover substance after butter is churned out of cream and the Cultured is the leftover thick substance after curdling of milk.
In India buttermilk is also known as Chaas and is made with different flavours like masala or spiced with a dash of fresh mint or corianderleavea. It’s a refreshing drink for hot summer days.
The vegan substitute for buttermilk is soymilk.
