Heat oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them crackle.
Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a min. Add the onion and green chillies and fry till onion turns soft. Add the tomatoes and fry till mushy.
Add turmeric, chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, Salt and fry for a min.
Add the potatoes, beans, dal, kasuri methi and mix well. Cover the pan and fry on low heat stirring every 2-3 mins to prevent burning and even cooking.
Fry till everything is cooked completely which will take around 15-20 mins. Do not add water.
You can add some chopped coriander leaves, give a quick stir and take off the heat.
