Kozhakattai is a traditional Tamilian dish prepared during the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. There is a sweet and savoury version to it. Today I present the sweeter version of the kozhakattai.

Ingredients
  

  • For the covering:
  • Raw rice - 1 cup soaked in water for 2 hours
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Water - 1 and a half cup
  • Salt a pinch
  • For the filling:
  • Jaggery - 1 cup
  • Coconut freshly grated - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Ghee - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp

Instructions
 

  • Make all the modaks in the same way and steam it in a cooker for 15-20 minutes. Serve with fresh homemade ghee.
