Neer Moru is a spicy buttermilk drink which is very popular in South Indian household. It is even prepared for the occasions like Sri Rama Navami and Sumangali Pooja. Katrazhai Neer Moru is a traditional refreshing summer drink which is made out of curd, Aloe Vera along with flavourful spices and herbs! This delicious Katrazhai Neer Moru is packed with many flavours, reduces the body heat and highly nutritious.
Take Aloe Vera, remove the gel from the leaf, cut into pieces and wash it 5 to 6 times to get rid of the bitterness.
In a blender add curd, Aloe Vera gel, green chilies, coriander, mint leaves, curry leaves, ginger, ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds salt and water. Blend the mixture well and strain it. Then add black salt, lemon juice and adjust the salt if needed.
For tempering: heat up oil in a small bowl, once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds, Asafetida (Hing) and chopped curry leaves.
Now pour the tempering on the top of buttermilk, mix it well. Strain the buttermilk for a a smooth texture (optional). Serve it chilled in a glass.
