Urad Dal Puri is a puffed and fried Indian bread using a mix of urad dal paste, whole wheat flour and spices. I have cooked these puris as mini sized and is a perfect healthy option for kids snack box. This can as well be rolled to a regular puri size and fried. Enjoy these hot puris with aloo ki subzi or tomato sauce.
In a mixer jar blend soaked urad dal, green chilli, chopped ginger, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder to a fine paste.
Transfer it to a bowl, add whole wheat flour, chiroti rava and ghee. Mix well.
Add ½ cup to ¾ cup water little by little and knead the dough stiff like regular puri dough.
Make big balls and roll the dough. Using a flower cookie cutter cut the mini patterns (or) Make small balls, roll each ball to a thin circle like regular puri.
Heat oil and fry the rolled puri balls / patterns.
Serve with Aloo subzi/tomato ketchup/mint chutney.
Notes
Adjust spice according to your taste.
Do not use more water while kneading the dough, otherwise the puri will absorb more oil while frying.
