Tea, a simple everyday word that one thinks of at the crack of dawn, its use and possibilities of experimentation though are endless. So when I was gifted a pack of some Darjeeling Berry Blast Tea, I decided to do something a little off the beaten path and thus was born this tantalizing sweet and spicy beverage made of thisTea poured over juicy strawberries and a hot shot of spicy jalapeno pepper slices.
Roughly chop the strawberries and jalapeno peppers and put them into a large glass jar or pitcher.
Now in a large saucepan heat 2 cups of water along with the sugar and bring it to a rolling boil.
Switch off the flame and add in the tea leaves.
Cover and allow to steep for not more than 5 mins.
Now strain off the tea leaves and pour the tea into the pitcher containing the chopped strawberries and jalapenos, add in a few lime slices and allow to come to room temperature.
Once cool, refrigerate the tea for one to two hours.
Once nice and cold, pour this tea into beautiful serving glasses that have been lined with a few ice cubes.
Garnish with a few sliced strawberries and some mint or rosemary sprigs.
Cheers!
Notes
Do not allow the tea leaves to steep in the hot water for more than 5 minutes as the tea will then taste bitter.
