Vermicelli payasam is a quick dessert which is frequently made in Tamilian households. The celebration of the month of Aadi continues!
Roasted vermicelli - 1 small cup
Ghee - 3 tbsp
Milk - 2 cups
Crushed almonds - 8-10
Sugar - 5 tsp
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Few strands of saffron soaked in milk
Heat ghee in a saucepan and add the crushed almonds. After 1-2 minutes, add the vermicelli and fry till light brown.
Now add 1 cup milk and cook the vermicelli till it becomes soft.
Now add the second cup of milk and simmer on low flame for 10-15 minutes. It will become creamy.
Add the sugar, cardamom powder and saffron. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve chilled.
