Kesari is a very commonly made sweet dish in Tamil Homes. It is prepared in every big and small occassions.
From welcoming a guest at home to a marriage ceremony, Kesari is a must for all South Indians.
I remember my mom prepared kesari and bajji whenever any ladke wale came with marriage proposal for meðŸ˜ðŸ˜
It is made in many fruit and plain flavours. But this Banana Kesari has not got it's share of fame.
It's fairly good to taste and you can use up your over ripe bananas in this. Good to try for a change,, something different from the usual.

- Add ghee to a skillet and toast cashews till golden brown then add raisins.
- Add semolina to cashew and raisins. Roast till it turns to Marie biscuit colour.
- Puree 2 small bananas using a fork.
- Also in another side keep water and milk mixture on meduim flame.
- Add sugar, banana puree, cardamom powder and saffron (optional) to the milk mixture. You can add jalebi food colour if you like.
- Let the mixture come to a boil.
- Add this mixture to semolina and stir. At first it will look like too much liquid but the semolina will cook and absorb the liquid.
- Your delicious Vazhapayam / Banana Kesari is ready to serve.
