  • 1 kg yam/ suran
  • 1 cup Green peas
  • 2 tbsp onion paste
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Coriander powder/ dhaniya powder
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • Salt
  • 2 tbsp Oil Mustard oil
  • 1/2 tbsp Dry mango powder/Amchoor powder
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing


  • Clean, wash and cut the yam into dices. Mix 1 tsp salt and keep aside for 2 hours. now wash and boil for 10 minutes in water.
  • Heat the oil in a pan add fenugreek seeds crackle them, saute the ginger, garlic paste then fry the onion paste till golden.
  • Now add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt stir and cook for 2 minutes, add tomato puree and cook the masala until the oil separates.
  • Add boiled yam and green peas mix well add 1/2 cup water and cook for 10 minutes, switch off the flame. garnish with coriander leaves and serve with paratha .
