Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, take flour, yeast, sugar and salt and mix well then add the dried herbs and garlic powder and mix well, Add garlic paste as well and mix
- Warm the milk and add 1/4 cup butter to it, heat little so the butter is melted. Mix well
- Add the warm milk and butter mixture to the flour, make sure the milk is just light warm and not hot otherwise it will kill the yeast
- Start kneading the dough, add warm water little by little to make a soft smooth dough.
- The dough should be kneaded for a minimum of 10 minutes to get a soft spongy bread, after kneading grease a big bowl and keep the dough in it, covered for proofing until it doubles in size. It can take about 1-2 hours
- While the dough is getting proofed prepare the veggies and the spice mix as below
- For spice mix - mix together 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp crushed black pepper, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp Kashmiri Lal Mirch powder, 2 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp dried basil, 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- For Dip - Heat some water in a pan and put the milk in a bowl over it, make sure the water doesnTMt touch the milk bowl, Add milk powder and cheese to it and let it melt slowly over the double boiler, keep on stirring to get a smooth dip
- Once the dough is doubled in size, knock out the air and divide it in 3 equal parts. Make balls and keep aside covered for 10 minutes
- Mix the chopped peppers and boiled corn, add salt and pepper as per your taste, keep aside
- Spread the corn meal on the work surface, take one dough ball and work on it to make a flat round shape about 1/2 inch thick
- Brush some melted butter on it and sprinkle the prepared spice mix, Put the prepared vegetables on one side of the round dough and cover them with grated cheese and then fold the other half over it
- Transfer it to the parchment lined tray or rack carefully(I prefer baking pizza and other flat breads on rack) and just mark the cuts to define sticks it will be cut thoroughly after baking
- Brush butter generously over the top and sprinkle the spice mix over it
- Now bake it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 20-25 minutes or till the top is golden, Take out and cut the sticks and finally serve hot
Recipe Notes
Additional Tips
- For an extra gooey center, try adding a mix of mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese as your stuffing, along with finely chopped jalapeños or sun-dried tomatoes for a flavor boost.
- Brush the bread sticks with a mixture of melted butter, fresh garlic, and chopped parsley immediately after baking for a glossy finish and intensified garlic aroma.
- If you prefer a crispier exterior, bake the sticks on a preheated pizza stone or an inverted baking tray to help the bottoms brown evenly.
- Leftover bread sticks can be wrapped in foil and reheated in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 8–10 minutes, which will help restore their softness and keep the filling melty.
