About Stuffed Bread Buns

Brown bread buns that are stuffed with kids choice of stuffings, be it cheese, paneer sabji, paneer burji, stir fried mix veggies, chicken dry etc. Shaping them into cute little animals makes the kids eyes pop out and gets them all excited. Kids need some fun food stuffs too as eating is more about liking the look of the food first and then the taste.

  • Bread method -Add sugar to the milk and water mixture. Heat it to lukewarm. Sprinkle the yeast gently. Keep aside for about 10 minutes. It will bloom.
  • Take the atta in a big plate or dish. Add the salt. Add the frothed yeast liquid to the flour. Mix it up gently.
  • Start kneading for about 12-15 minutes. Add The 2 tablespoon oil while kneading. If the mixture is bit dry add 1-2 tablespoon of milk.
  • The flour will be very sticky at first but will come together on kneading. Keep it in an oiled dish. Cling wrap and keep for proofing in a warm place.
  • Depending on the weather the dough will swell up in 1-2 hours. Gently punch it once.
  • Make a few balls of various sizes and roll them out. Stuff them with the stuffings and give shapes like pigs, bears , birds, roses etc. Keep them on a lined baking tray.

  • For eyes, use black peppercorns.

  • Brush some melted butter and leave for 30 minutes for the second rise. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes, with both rods on.
  • Bake the breads for 12 to 15 minutes till the top turns light golden brown.
  • Stuffing recipe -Chop the onions very finely. Cut up the mushrooms into small pieces too. Heat up the oil in a nonstick pan. Keep the flame low. Add the onions and cook till light brown. Add in the tomatoes and all seasonings
  • Cook till the mixture looks well fried. Add in the blanched mushrooms and paneer cubes. Cover and cook till done. ( 5 minutes ) Garnish with chopped green coriander leaves

Recipe Notes

I have made a stuffing of paneer and mushrooms Sabji.
One can go in for whatever the kids love.
