Tea, a simple everyday word that one thinks of at the crack of dawn, its use and possibilities of experimentation though are endless. So when I was gifted a pack of some Darjeeling Berry Blast Tea, I decided to do something a little off the beaten path and thus was born this tantalizing sweet and spicy beverage made of thisTea poured over juicy strawberries and a hot shot of spicy jalapeno pepper slices.

Ingredients
  

  • Darjeeling tea leaves - 1+1/4 teaspoons
  • Strawberries - 1/4 cup
  • Jalepeno pepper - 1 large
  • Sugar Or Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime slices - 4 to 5
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Mint or Rosemary sprigs - to garnish

Instructions
 

  • Roughly chop the strawberries and jalapeno peppers and put them into a large glass jar or pitcher.

  • Now in a large saucepan heat 2 cups of water along with the sugar and bring it to a rolling boil.

  • Switch off the flame and add in the tea leaves. Cover and allow to steep for not more than 5 mins.

  • Now strain off the tea leaves and pour the tea into the pitcher containing the chopped strawberries and jalapenos, add in a few lime slices and allow to come to room temperature.

  • Once cool, refrigerate the tea for one to two hours.
  • Once nice and cold, pour this tea into beautiful serving glasses that have been lined with a few ice cubes.
  • Garnish with a few sliced strawberries and some mint or rosemary sprigs.

Notes

Do not allow the tea leaves to steep in the hot water for more than 5 minutes as the tea will then taste bitter.
