I am sharing the recipe for a simple flat green beans curry, known as chikkudikaya koora in Telugu or Sem ki sabji in Hindi. Moreover it is a simple yet gratifying curry.

Ingredients
- 2 cup Broad Beans (flat broken into)
- 1 cup Capsicum (chopped into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 to Tomato (chopped into medium pieces)
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (or jeera jeera)
- 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (or jeera jeera)
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric (or haldi haldi)
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1-2 tsp Salt (or as per taste)

Instructions
- Boil flat broad beans and keep aside. Heat oil in a wok/kadhai. Add jeera and mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splutter. Add the chilli powder and stir well. Based on your preference for spiciness you may add chilli powder accordingly.
- Please be mindful that capsicum will contribute a slight spiciness to this dish. Now, add capsicum pieces and turmeric. Stir well for a minute. Add tomato pieces and saute for a minute or two.
- To this add, the boiled flat broad beans and salt. Mix well for a few minutes. Put off the heat. Savor this ‘hearty’ curry with hot rice!

The flavors of flat green beans, capsicum and tomato take center stage in this signature creation of my mother-in-law. And is one side dishe that adds substance and heft to the everyday bland rice.
