Salan with chillies We can make salan with some other like tomato, capsicum, chilli etc. I removed the seeds to avoid the hot. I made with my home grown chilli. This is easy to cook and it goes with chicken biryani or as you like.

Ingredients
  

  • Long sizes green and red chilli
  • 1 tbsp ground nuts
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp coconut paste
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1 medium size chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon jaggery powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Curry leaves
  • Pinch of hing
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Roast ground nuts, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, coconut, ginger and garlic. Make a paste then keep aside.

  • Remove seeds of chillies then shallow fry and keep aside.

  • Take a pan heat oil add cumin seeds, hing and curry leaves. Add chopped onion stir fry until translucent. Add the mixed paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and cumin powder.

  • Cook for a few minutes add tamarind water, jaggery and salt. Cook with adding more water.

  • Add garam masala and fried chilli and cook for a minute. Now ready to serve with steamed rice, chapati, paratha, biryani etc.
