Ingredients
  

  • A small Lemon size Tamarind
  • Green chillies 2 Red chillies 3
  • Pepper corns 1 tea spoon Cumin seeds 1 tea spoon
  • Red chilli powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Coriander seeds 2 tea spoons
  • Thur dal 2 tea spoons
  • Hing powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
  • Ghee Clarified butter 1 1/2 tea spoons
  • Chopped tomatoes 2
  • Curry leaves and coriander leaves

Instructions
 

  • Extract 750 ml of thin tamarind juice. Heat a broad pan with ghee. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, thurdal, pepper corns, red chillies and thurdal together.
  • By the time the mustard seeds splutter other ingredients would have roasted well. Now add curry leaves, tomatoes and green chillies. Fry for few seconds.
  • Pour the tamarind juice into the pan. Add required salt, hing powder, turmeric powder and chilli powder. Allow it to boil till the stuff becomes half in quantity.
  • Now add 200 ml of water and wait for the bubbles to come up. Switch off the stove. Add chopped coriander seeds. One of the yummiest and aromatic rasam is ready now.

Notes

Note:The roasted dal and spices since boiled in the tamarind juice they give a wonderful taste with a mild crunchiness.
