Spicy potato is a South Indian dish of mash potatoes with seasonings. It is a spicy dish which taste great with curd rice, rasam rice, sambar rice and even with chapatti and puri.

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add the mustard, urad dal, fennel, dry chillies, curry leaves and let it sizzle.
  • Add the garlic and saute for a min. Add the onions and saute till onion turns soft.
  • Add the potatoes and mix well. Use your spatula or back of your ladle to break the potatoes into small pieces and partly mash them.
  • Add salt and chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix well. Cook for around 5 mins.
  • Add in gram flour and mix well. Roast this for 5-10 mins. Add the chopped coriander leaves and mix well and take off the heat.
  • Serve spicy potato podimas as a side dish.
