Potato Peas And Fenugreek Soup

This is a delectable, creamy potato and pea soup recipe. It was actually my baby's Potato soup recipe which I spruced up with addition of garam masala and a little variation in preparation. When accompanied with a slice of bread flavoured with garlic it's delicious, fresh and a surprising flavourful!

  • 1/2 cup potatoes chopped with skin
  • 1/2 cup green peas fresh or frozen
  • 1/4 cup fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium size onion chopped finely
  • Chilli flakes for garnish
  • Salt
  • 2 cup water or if you have vegetable stock all the more healthy


  • Heat a saucepan with a little oil and gently cook the onions until soft and translucent and starting to caramelise a little.
  • Stir in the garam masala and cinnamon powder.
  • Add the potatoes and water/stock, then bring to the boil.
  • Simmer for ten minutes then add the salt, peas and fenugreek leaves.
  • Return to the boil until everything is well cooked.
  • Take out from the heat and using a hand mixer/blender, blend everything smooth.
  • Garnish with chilli flakes and serve hot with toasted garlic bread.
