  • suji/rava-1 cup
  • boiled vegetables peas,carrots,beans - 1/2 cup
  • water- 2.5 cups
  • Salt
  • onion chopped- 1/2 cup
  • capsicum chopped- 1/2 cup
  • red chilly powder- 1/2 tsp
  • green chillies chopped- 1 tsp
  • garam masala-1 tsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • curry leaves- 1 tsp
  • basil leaves- a bunch
  • pinenuts/walnuts- 10-12
  • garlic- 2 tbsp
  • olive oil- 1/4 cup
  • parmesan cheese-1/4 cup


  • 1. to make pesto sauce, add basil leaves, olive oil,pinenuts,parmesan cheese,salt and garlic in a blender. blend till a smooth paste is formed.
  • to make upma, heat a pan. add oil. saute ginger,garlic,onion and capsicum. add in suji/rava. and stir it and cook till a little brown colour appears. add in water and boiled vegetablesand . cook well till mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  • when the mixture leaves the sides of the pan, add in the pesto sauce and salt and cook again for 4-5 minutes.
  • serve with chilly tomato sauce.
