  • 5 Whole Spices ingredients for
  • 2 Peanuts tspn
  • 2 Seeds tspn corriander
  • 6 to 8 leaves Curry
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Whole Red Chilli dry
  • 10 to 11 Onion

  • 8 to 10 Onions
  • 2 Ginger Garlic Paste tspn
  • 1-2 leaves Curry
  • 2 Onion Paste
  • 1 Black Mustard Seeds tspn
  • 1 Fenugreek Seeds tspn
  • 1 leaves Curry tspn
  • 1 Turmeric Powder tspn powder
  • 2 Tamarind Pulp tspn
  • 200 ml Water
  • 1-2 tsp Salt or as per taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil


  • Roast all the dry 5 whole spices and grind it. Now take a kadai and heat the oil in it. Put the mustard seeds, when starts spluttering add fenu greek seeds and curry leaves. Then add ginger garlic paste and onion paste.
  • Saute it for few mins and stirr continously till it becomes brown. Now add salt, haldi powder and roasted spices powder. Mix it ery well and stirr it for 4 to 5 mins low flame. Now add tamarind pulp, water and Small onions. Cover it with the lid.
  • Now let it cook for 10 mins. When Onions becomes soft turn off the flame. Now its ready. Serve this Onion Saalan with chapati and Rice. What ever you like.
