vermicelli is usually cooked in milk or are prepared in sugar syrup with mawa and nuts and flavored with saffron and cardamom powder. vermicelli is mostly prepared during the festive season of Rahki or Eid. Salted vermicelli along with potatoes and boiled green peas is also served at breakfast and tastes delicious. It can be prepared with seasonal vegetables or any other vegetables as per one’s choice. Some people consumer it with ghee and some consume it with bhujiya and tomato ketchup or just with lemon juice sprinkled over it.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 cup Vermicelli
  • 2 Potato medium
  • 1/2 cup Green Peas
  • 1-2 tsp Salt or as per taste
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder or mirch lal mirch powder or taste
  • 1 tbsp Onions chopped
  • 1 tbsp Green Chillies or mirch finely chopped hari mirch
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice neebu ka ras
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds or jeera jeera
  • 1 tbsp Desi Ghee
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Sev for servings bhujiya
  • Tomato Sauce

Instructions
 

  • Heat the ghee in a pan and fry the vermicelli until golden. Peel, wash and cut the potato into small dices Now add oil in the same pan add cumin seeds, as they change the color add green chili and onion fry them until light brown.
  • Add potato, peas, salt and red chili powder mix well add 2 tbsp water cover and cook till the potatoes are done. Now add roasted vermicelli mix with spices add 1/2 cup water, cover and cook on low heat for 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice and coriander leave, switch off the gas. Serve hot with tea or coffee, before serving sprinkle some salted sev and tomato sauce as per your choice.
