Naga style stew is a potato based curry. It is a zero oil dish and a very healthy and scrumptious dish. It is prepared with potato as the main ingredient. The potatoes are coarsely mashed to give volume to the gravy. This recipe is a vegetarian version. Along with the veggies, non veg like dry fish and smoked meats can be added to the stew. It is perfect to have with piping hot steam rice. This dish is commonly found in every Naga household.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 2 Tomato
  • 6-7 large green chillies or as per your taste
  • 2 cup sliced Cabbage and Spinach
  • Salt
  • Water as required

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot add potatoes, tomatoes, green chillies, salt and enough water.
  • Bring to a boil and cook till the potatoes are cooked. Using a mortar and pestle mashed all the ingredients, you can keep some potatoes coarsely grounded.
  • Put back the mashed ingredients into the pot, add the cabbage and spinach, adjust the gravy consistency and cook for 5-10 mins and take off the heat.
  • Serve with piping hot steam rice.
