Nabanna (Makar Shankranti Sweet)

Makar shankranti is a festival new harvest. People used to take holy dip in river Ganga. Maag mela also started from the day of shankranti which celebrate in the bank of Ganga sagar. Palm jaggery also available in the winter season. I cooked this recipe with new rice and new jaggery. People serve different types of recipes with new rice and new vegetables.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup soaked new rice
  • 1 litre milk full cream
  • 1/2 chopped nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup dates jaggery
  • 2-4 bay leaves

Instructions
 

  • Take a pan add milk and bay leaves. When milk will start boiling add soaked rice. Stir continuously rice will cooked and milk will reduce.
  • Add chopped nuts, grated coconut and cardamom powder. Then put off the flame. Add dates jaggery. Keep for room temperature then serve.

Notes

Don’t add jaggery into the boiling milk otherwise milk will split.
