Moringa/ Drumstick Leaves Creamy Soup

Offering this magical leaves in the form of a delicious creamy soup to children seems to be a smarter way . Children would surely approve this soup with no second thoughts .

  • Moringa leaves 1 cup equals 300 ml
  • Butter 2 tablespoons
  • Onion 1 big finely chopped
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic finely chopped 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cream 4 tablespoons
  • Vegetable stock 1 large glass
  • Salt as preferred
  • Black pepper powder as preferred
  • Kasuri Methi crushed 3/4 teaspoon optional


  • Heat butter in a sauce pan . Crackle cumin seeds . Then add fennel seeds . When fennel releases aroma , add chopped garlic and chopped onions . Sauté till translucent and not until brown .
  • Add the cleaned , drained moringa leaves . Sauté for couple of minutes until raw smell leaves . Sprinkle vegetable broth now and then to soften the leaves while cooking . Don’t overcook .
  • Switch off the stove . Allow the mixture to cool completely .
  • Blend the spinach mixture to a smooth purée . Adjust the consistency by adding warm vegetable stock . Season it with pepper and salt . Add fresh cream just before serving . Garnish with crushed dried fenugreek leaves if preferred for flavour .
