About this Recipe

Moong dal is soft than other dal. Gives more taste with bottle gourd.

Ingredients & Quantity
  • 1 cup dal
  • 250 gms bottle gourd
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp whole cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 whole red chilli,
  • 2 green chilli
  • 2 tsp mustered oil
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • Salt to taste.

How to cook?
  1. Wash moong dal and heat a pan. Add oil and fry dal with pinch of turmeric powder. After shallow fry dal will become light brown.
  2. Bottle gourd cut into cubical pieces. Now take a pressure cooker add dal, bottle gourd, turmeric powder and salt.
  3. Cook with 2 whistle. Now add 2 tsp oil add whole red chilli fry and keep aside.
  4. Add bay leaves ginger paste, tomato paste, sliced green chilli. Stir fry add dal. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Take another small pan heat add ghee and cumin seeds. Pour into dal and cover the lid.
  6. Now Sal is ready to serve
