  • 1/1/2 cup Rice
  • 1/1/2 bowl Moong Dal with skin
  • 1-2 tsp Salt or as per taste
  • 2 Onion sliced
  • 4 Whole red chilli
  • 1 tsp Heeng
  • Desi Ghee clarified butter2 tbsp
  • Green Chillies or garnishing for garnishing


  • Wash and soak Dal and rice for 1/2 an hour.
  • Cook the khichdi with 4 glass water and salt after a boil keep out the excess dirt , now cook the khichdi at least at least 15 minutes on sim flame
  • Heat the ghee in a pan and pop the cumin and chili then fry the onion till golden.
  • Serve hot khichdi garnish with fried onion,red chili and sliced green chili
