Moong Daaal Ka Halwa

Ingredients
- Moong Dal - 150 gms
- Milk - 500 ml
- Sugar - 50 - 75 gms
- Saffron - a few strands
- Green Cardamon - 2
- Almonds - 20
- Cashew - 20
- Cooking Color - a pinch
- Ghee or Clarified butter - 30 ml
Instructions
- Preparation: • Four hours before you want to start cooking, please soak Moong Daal in adequate water • Also, chop cashew and almonds right now and keep aside
- After four hours, now the daal is compltely saoked, drain it, and use a blender to make a coarse paste of soaked daal.
- Now, take a deep pan or wok and add ghee to it, put it on a high flame. As soon as the ghee melts, reduce the heat and add your moong daal paste to the wok. Start turning the paste over. You have to roast it till it turns brown.
- Take the milk and ad a pinch of color, ground cardamom powder and saffron to it. Add this mixture to the wok slowly now. You can add half the milk now, and keep mixing the whole thing. It would take around 10 minutes for the daal to absorb the milk.
- Add the rest of the milk now and keep mixing until the halwa starts leaving ghee. Now, it is a good time to add the nuts and sugar. Once sugar melts, you are ready to go.
