Methi muthiya is a traditional Gujarati snack made using fenugreek leaves. It can also be made using cabbage or bottle gourd instead of methi leaves. Methi muthiya tastes best with coriander mint chutney with a hot cup of tea.

Ingredients
  

  • Coarsely ground gram flour - 1 cup
  • Garlic pods - 2 crushed
  • Green chillies -1 cut finely
  • Fenugreek leaves methi leaves - a small bunch
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • OIl - 2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Water as required
  • To temper:
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 4 tsp
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
  • Chopped coriander to garnish

Instructions
 

  • Mix all the ingredients except listed under To temper and make a moist dough.
  • Pressure cook it for about 10 minutes. Cool and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add the mustard seeds and sesame seeds. Add the dough by breaking it into small pieces and saute well.
  • Fry on medium flame for 5-10 minutes. Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander.
